Scrap of Success: An optimistic musical theatre couple document their hopeful journey to fame via their amateur YouTube channel.
We would love the opportunity to expand this project. Although it's self-made, low budget nature is part of the charm of the series, we believe it will translate with greater impact with a higher production value. We wrote the first series bearing in mind significant practical limitations within our budget. With more funding we feel we could be more adventurous with characters, plots and settings. We both filmed, starred in, edited and publicised this project ourselves. With the added assistance of funding and a wider creative team, we hope to make this web-series a huge success which can be bought by a channel.
Since it's release in late August we have been delighted with the response from fans of the show, although we're desperate to reach a wider audience. Over Christmas we posted a number of mini-vlogs on our instagram and facebook profiles which were great fun to film. We feel we have a strong brand with Scrap of Success, one which is extremely relevant in todays climate of social media and the pressures to appear successful. We hope that our story can also be part of the brand, two creatives starting the project with nothing more than their ambition and an iPhone camera!
As we have made a version of the series already, we feel the development plan would be fairly simple. We are happy to be flexible with the concept, but predominantly feel that re-making the first series with an injection of funding, ideas and guidance would be our goal. We would also be welcome to the idea of creating a higher quality pilot epsiode.
